Our Italian Journey

Can you believe Our Italian Journey is now a book? Gary and I made a promise to one another long ago. Once we held our elusive maroon-colored Italian passports in our hands, we would leave family and friends behind to live a year in Italy.
A gift to one another.
A year to take our new Italian citizenship for a test drive.
Arriving in Rome, we didn’t consider writing a book about our adventure right away. I’m not quite sure exactly how the idea came to me, but I realized 2019 was going to be a special year, and I knew I wanted to share it with our friends, followers, and blog subscribers.
New Menu Item on Blog!
If you go to the home page, you will notice we have a new menu item – OIJ- THE BOOK. Here you can find videos, trailers, FAQs, testimonials, and lots of information about the book.
A Bit Unique
This travel memoir is a bit unusual as we wrote it as our journey unfolded before our eyes – in the present tense. We do share several flash-backs but writing in this manner was a bit difficult when it came to editing. When editing, you always think of “past tense,” so this part of the manuscript process was not easy.

A Look Inside Our Italian Journey
In Our Italian Journey, you will discover and share our desire for a genuine experience with an Italian family. We always wanted to enjoy an evening with a true Italian family – to break bread and sit around a table filled with conversation. Probably most of which I could not understand… but we share this dream coming true in a little town called Scafati with an amazing, special family. A family that we still are in contact with today.
We share stories and witty insights about new Italian friendships, reconnecting with old friends, and actually meeting up with subscribers to the blog! These subscriber friendships may have started in Italy – but they have blossomed and continue in the States. We are so grateful Italy brought us together.
In the book, we provide you with an entertaining look at life in Italy. A journey with a bit of history, tradition, and culture that is written from our hearts. Through experiences and humor, we invite you along our spellbinding adventure, exploring quaint villages, steeped in tradition and local culture.
Our Italian Journey on Amazon
Finally…
Writing this book together was a step outside of our comfort zone and a new venture for us. Let our love for this country be your guide to the most beautiful places in Italy. By popular demand, we even decided to share some of our photos in the book. Even in black and white, they still can bring you into the moment. Of course, you can find the beautiful color versions on the blog, or my Pinterest boards. Join our journey – we’d love to have you along for the ride.
We hope you will consider reading our travel adventure memoir, and if you enjoy it, share it as a gift to friends and family. Perhaps a gift to someone who is also passionate about this country. Please feel free to leave comments on this post, as well as reviews on Amazon and Goodreads. We would appreciate it.
Our Italian Journey is not over – we’ve got lots planned for the future!

November 28, 2020 at 3:58 pmThank you so much Natalia! Who would have thought the hardest part was publishing and not writing the book! With nine small grandchildren, we can’t live permanently but are currently doing a 8/4 month stay. Eight months in Italy – four in Arizona.
